It has been a pretty long day. We started about 18 hours ago in the parking lot in Cherry Hill and are ending it here in Gilbert, Arizona. Just o give you an idea about our day. The flights were perfect, several team members got to share with fellow travelers why we were going to Arizona. No problems on either leg of the trip although the Houston to Phoenix flight was a bit bumpy, but everyone survived. The little bags stayed safe and secure in the pockets of the seats in front of us. After getting out bags and rental van we drove to the home of our hosts for the next three days. We are spending the next few days doing a little sightseeing and preparation for our mission activities beginning Sunday. Our hosts, Del and Sheri Wang have opened their beautiful home to us until then and prepared a homemade Mexican dinner that we enjoyed outside on the patio. God has certainly blessed us through them and we can't begin to thank them enough for their hospitality and generosity. Tomorrow we will be making a very long drive to the Grand Canyon, so we are very excited.
The team has begin the On Mission portion of our Journals/Devotionals called Do..Love...Walk. We are working through a series that began seven days ago and will continue through the ten days of our trip and the seven days after. It is based on our theme verse of Micah 6:8: "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Today we studied Colossians 3:12-17. Tomorrow, if you'd like to read along with us, we will be in Micah 6:6-8. The team is very excited about our study and it is really cool that we are all together in our daily devotions. Join us each day and pray along with us as we keep ourselves grounded in God's Word.
Well, I'm tired and ready to turn in. We have about 5 or six hours of driving each way tomorrow and will be on the road by about 5am, but once the team sees the marvelous creation that is the Grand Canyon, it will be more than worth it.
