Student Bloggers: Erin, Nikki and Ade'Zsa

Well its been a tiring nine days, but also a wonderful and beautiful nine days. Even through all the poverty and addictions, beautiful things have come out of it; most of all the kids. These kids are amazing!  Even though their lives are full of poverty, they still manage to laugh, giggle and smile. One day a girl stood out to me, Demitria. We played duck-duck-goose together, and then we played jump rope but she didn’t know how, so I tried to find her something to do. Some of the kids had beach balls and she wanted to play with one that another girl had. She asked the girl if we could use it, and the girl yelled, “NO!!” Demitria started to cry.  I got down on my knees and tried to comfort her. We sat down in the dirt and I drew my own map of the U.S. and showed her where I came from. I stayed with her for the rest of the time, later in the car Mr. Savidge told me that it was her first time on the bus and that I had made an impact on her. It made me cry a little because I never went into that place with an idea that I would make an impression on a little girl.  I also cried because I thought that I would never get to see her again. I still miss her, but I think that I’ll see her again.

Dude. This trip has been sooo much FUN!! I’ve learned so much about myself and my teammates. We have all grown so close to each other and to God. We have gone through some pretty hard times and some really great times and they have all brought us so close together and made us a big family. One of our favorite things has been working on the children’s bus. It has been such a blessing playing with the children and encouraging them. Its really great to hear a little kid that has such a hard life giggling and laughing when you are doing such a simple thing with them like playing tag. But its so hard when they ask you if your coming back next week and you have to tell them no.  That’s a heartbreaker. This experience has been such a blessing and an encouragement to me. I cant wait to get home and tell you all about it!

Wow! This trip has been so amazing. We had the best team members, and had many great experiences together. This trip stood out to me the most because Satan was trying so hard to eat us up but God always came in time to grab us and give us wisdom and strength. I really can’t wait to go home……..and tell my family about this trip.
