I've asked two of our team members to share some things that are happening this week. Today Chris Savarese and Carlie Chubb are blogging. Over the following four days, each team member will have an opportunity.
From Chris:
My experience in Arizona has been an eye-opener. I had no idea the beauty the Arizona’s nature had to offer. I am so glad I had the opportunity to come here. During the first 3 days we stayed at a family’s house and let me tell you…that was one crazy awesome house!!!!! It had a pool, a movie theater, a pool table, and it had the most high-tech gear connecting to the whole house! The team called it the 8th wonder of the world after we left because of how huge it was. The family was really nice too. I have never met people like them ever in my life. They let complete strangers in their house and the minute we arrived, they treated us like family. It was really amazing. As we left the house to go A.R.M, I knew that the hard part was about to begin. Immediately I started to face challenges of tiredness, emotional drainage, and just plain-old homesickness. I never felt so drained in my life. I made some mistakes; I lashed out at one of my teammates for annoying me. I knew it was a mistake as soon as I did it. Mr. Savidge had to get me to calm down (which by the way was a huge blow on my pride) and he gave me some advice, which helped a lot. I learned what was necessary to control my emotions. It’s still hard, but I hope that I will conquer that obstacle, with the help of God I know I can do it. This trip has been incredible! I wish I could stay forever, but there’s work to be done at home. That’s where God is calling me to be right now, so there I will stay. I hope everyone is enjoying looking at the updates and pictures on the blog. I love you all back at home, and thanks for your prayers.
From Carlie:
Today we worked on building a shed for Arizona Reservation Ministries. It was nice being able to work outside and see where their buses were. Later we went on the children’s bus to work with the kids. It was nice to see how even teenagers would get on the bus to play and hear about Jesus. The bus had all kinds of games the children can play. The kids would hear a small story about Jesus Christ and then they would get a snack. After that the kids would go play with us and do crafts that they could take home. It is amazing to see what God is doing and what he will be doing through out the week.
